The best place for a child’s first steps on skis is close to home — the gentle, predictable slope of Górka Szczęśliwicka. We teach children from the age of 4 through play, with PZN-licensed instructors and equipment from our own rental.
Górka Szczęśliwicka is the only ski slope within Warsaw — the run is about 227 m long with a gentle average gradient of around 19%. For a child these conditions are ideal: no big-resort crowds, no long drive and no pressure.
Read more about the place itself in the guide to Górka Szczęśliwicka, and how to get there on the getting there page.
A standard lesson lasts 55 minutes and starts with getting to know each other, a short warm-up and getting comfortable with the equipment. For children from the age of 4 we have a dedicated programme built around play: technique is introduced gradually, through games and exercises, so the child wants to come back to the slope.
The instructor adjusts the pace to the child’s age, temperament and level. There is no single template — some children snowplough on their own during the first lesson, others first need to feel confident on skis. Children also learn faster than adults — progress usually shows from lesson to lesson.
Private lessons are the fastest route: the instructor works one-on-one, without splitting attention between other students. A good choice for the start, for shy children and when flexible scheduling matters. Details are on the ski lessons page.
Group classes add the peer element — children motivate each other, and the cost per session is lower. Weekend and weekly courses are described on the group classes page. Many parents combine both: a private start, then a group.
Lessons are run by PZN-licensed instructors who work with children every day — in lessons, group classes and day camps. They know how to turn technique into play and how to react when a little one runs out of courage.
Instructor profiles, the sports they teach and their availability are in the Our Team section — when booking online you choose who will teach your child.
You do not need to buy anything just to try. We have our own rental — skis, boots and helmets in a full children’s size range, rented for the duration of the lesson with an instructor (you add them when booking). We do not rent clothing.
Dress your child in layers: warm, waterproof clothing, gloves and glasses or goggles. The lift pass is bought separately at the slope’s ticket office. Current lesson and rental prices are in the price list.
The most intensive form of learning is our winter ski and snowboard day camps during the school break: daily training on the slope, instructor care all day and plenty of fun with peers. After a week of camp, progress can be bigger than after a whole season of single lessons.
The camps are based at Górka Szczęśliwicka — right next to the gravity coaster, children’s favourite attraction in Szczęśliwicki Park.
In the 2025/2026 season the slope is closed for modernisation — the lifts, snowmaking and lighting are being replaced, and skiers return in the 2026/2027 season. Details are on the reopening page.
In the meantime we teach children on a real slope at Szwajcaria Bałtowska — including during the winter day camps. You can check conditions at the hill via the live camera.
